The rose bonsai is a popular way to bring the beauty and fragrance of rose bushes right into your home. After all, rose bushes are quite large, so why not make them tiny so you can enjoy them indoors whenever you want to?
The rose bonsai comes in a variety of different types of roses, and all them generally grow to be about five to nine inches tall. The reason the rose bonsai plant is so small is because it has basically been trained to be tiny. Expert gardeners have been able to trim this plant down so it is tiny and perfect to bring inside your home. The rose bonsai plant tends to be several years old by the time you get it because it takes years to bring them down to this tiny size. The rose bonsai plant has all the features of the regular rose bush, except that it’s a much smaller size.
The only additional thing you’ll need to care for a rose bonsai plant is a special humidity tray. This will provide enough humidity to keep the tiny plant hydrated. A humidity tray is basically a tray of water with some pebbles inside of it. The pebbles will help ensure that your plant gets just the right amount of water and prevent the soil from becoming too soggy. This tray will also help with some of the watering because a rose bush always needs lots of water, whether you’re going inside or out.
Another thing to keep in mind about this tiny version of the rose bush is the amount of sun it needs. These small rose bushes need even more sunlight than the larger varieties, and you may notice the branches start to reach out. This is a sign that the plan needs more sun, so you may have to set it outside for a few days.
Like their larger siblings, the bonsai rose bush also tends to attract pests, even indoors. Whiteflies and spider mites are the most common pests you’ll have to deal with. The easiest way to avoid these pests is to wash all sides of the leaves and flowers with water about once a week. This will reduce the risk of your plant even attracting pests to begin with.
Most people who decide to grow these tiny rose bushes will place them outside for at least part of the year, even if they intend to keep them as house plants much of the time. This is because of the large amounts of sunlight the plant needs to survive. It’s also possible to plant this type of plant outside and treat it just like a regular rose bush. It all just depends on your preference and desire for enjoying this plant. It certainly makes a unique addition to any patio area or place where you can sit and admire its beauty. Just remember that even though it is tiny, this plant is still basically a rose bush.
